Overview
ASSIST (Aggies Selflessly Serving in Shaping Tomorrow) is composed of 48 Freshmen members, 12 Mentors, and 3 Directors. ASSIST is entirely freshmen led, and the freshmen get to plan, organize, and lead any service project they feel passionately about. ASSIST has 6 different committees, which each focus on different areas of service. Each Committee contains 8 freshmen and 2 mentors. ASSIST is a great place for freshmen to grow as a servant leader and to meet some of their best friends.
Meetings
ASSIST General Meetings occur once a week at Tuesday at 7:00 pm. In addition to general meetings, each committee meets once a week to talk about committee projects, goals, and catch up on everyone's week. These meetings usually occur on Monday and are planned around the committee members' schedules.
Clusters
Clusters are the weekly social aspect of ASSIST. Clusters are made up of 12 Freshmen, 3 Mentors, and 2 Bigs. Clusters will be made up of Freshmen from all of the committees, and are meant to provide an opportunity to form stronger bonds with people outside of your committee. Clusters occur on Thursday nights and consist of various social events planned by the Bigs and Freshmen. Previous cluster events include: Ice Skating, Trampoline Park, Game night, movie night, horse-back riding, Sports night, etc.
Events
Other than committee service projects, meetings, and clusters: ASSIST takes a yearly ski trip to Colorado, plans a service project that involves the Bigs of ASSIST, participates in Shack-a-thon, Big event, and Aggie Dance Marathon. ASSIST also has a service project called Big 'Ol Project at the end of the year (April 3-5). This service project is completely planned and led by the freshmen, They receive a $1,000 budget and are allowed to plan any service project of their choice wherever they want to make an impact.
